Renske Gilissen specialises in suicide prevention. Her research and teaching focus on risk factors and protective factors of suicide and on the effectiveness and implementation of suicide prevention interventions.
In 2024, she was appointed extraordinary professor at Leiden University. Since 2017, she has led the research department of 113 Suicide Prevention. Gilissen obtained her PhD in Education and Child Studies at Leiden University in 2008.
