Kathleen conducts research exploring scholarly communication practices and infrastructures, including those related to open science, data, and research evaluation.
Kathleen Gregory is a social scientist working within the fields of library and information science and science and technology studies. Her research focuses on scholarly communication practices and infrastructures, including those related to open science, data, and research evaluation. Her most recent work investigates how open COVID-19 data/infrastructures are sustained. She is a Researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University and a Research Fellow at the Research on Research Institute. She holds a PhD (cum laude) in Science & Technology Studies, a Master of Science in Library and Information Science, and a Master of Arts in Education. After completing her PhD in 2021, Kathleen conducted postdoctoral work at the University of Vienna and at the Scholarly Communications Lab at the University of Ottawa. Kathleen’s work has been used to generate practical applications for computer scientists, data stewards and policymakers, such as recommendations for the development of responsible data metrics and for data discovery systems. Kathleen has published in journals such as the Harvard Data Science Review, the Journal of the Association of Information Science and Technology, and at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems . She is a member of the Research Data Alliance, the Association for Information Science and Technology, and the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology.
