I am a PostDoc working at the IBL as part of the start-up Tweegene, in collaboration with the LUMC. I look at the effect that the knockout of the TONSOKU gene has on tandem duplications in the plant genome.

Previously, it’s been identified that a knockout of TSK (or TNSL) results in systematic duplications in part of the genome of C. elegans and A. thaliana. We aim to exploit the duplication of genes by identifying traits that are effected by increased gene expression through duplication.
Brief biography
From 2021 to 2025, I did my PhD at Leiden University as part of the LettuceKnow consortium. Here I worked together with Remko Offringa to identify key genes in lettuce that regulate different developmental ageing processes. As of March 2026, I work as a PostDoc at Tweegene, looking at the effect of tandem duplications in plant crop species.
