PhD researcher focusing on life cycle assessment and data-driven environmental modelling to support net-zero transitions in complex port and maritime systems.
Professional experience
I am a PhD candidate at Leiden University in the Industrial Ecology group (CML), with a background in environmental engineering from politecnico di milano. My research experience spans environmental modelling and data science, with a strong focus on applying machine learning and high-performance computing to complex environmental systems. Previously, I worked as an environmental data scientist at the University of Milano-Bicocca and as a guest researcher at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL), where I developed data-driven models for climate and energy system analysis to support environmental decision-making.
Research topic
My PhD research focuses on developing a comprehensive and prospective Life Cycle Assessment framework for port-call operations, aiming to support data-driven decision-making for port decarbonisation and net-zero strategies. The research assesses current and future port-call configurations, integrates prospective energy system scenarios, and explores marine environmental impacts, with the Netherlands as a key case study.
