Dr Stolz joined the Institute of Private Law as an Assistant Professor in Notarial Law in January 2023.
In 1993, Dr Stolz graduated from the FMA (an institute for the benefit of publishing companies) in Amsterdam. Between 1995 and 1999, he studied Dutch notarial law and Dutch civil law.
After successfully completing his degree in Dutch notarial law, he worked as a Junior Notary at law firm Houthoff in The Hague and Rotterdam until 2010, specialising in real estate and family and corporate practice. In his latter years at Houthoff, he worked as Senior Counsel.
In addition to his work at Houthoff, Dr Stolz has held multiple part-time teaching posts at Stichting Opleiding Medewerkers in het Notariaat (SOMN), the Amsterdam School of Real Estate, the FBN and the University of Amsterdam. At Leiden University, he was previously involved in teaching the Moot Court and Real Estate Law modules as Assistant Professor. Since 2023, he has once again been teaching Real Estate and Property Law modules.
In 2015, he obtained his PhD with his thesis entitled De voorwaarde in het vermogensrecht (in Dutch, meaning 'The condition in property law'), a study of the property law model of resolutive and suspending conditions in Dutch, German and Swiss law.
