As an educational adviser and trainer, Heleen advises and inspires teachers in designing their teaching programmes, teaching in practice and supervising thesis students. Important questions in this regard are: “What do you want to achieve?” and “What do you need to achieve your goal?”. “It’s all about supporting students in the process of learning process and working on your own personal growth as a teacher.”

More information about Heleen Verkiel

After two years of Social Geography (1986-1988) at Utrecht University, Heleen Verkiel studied at the Marnix Academy in Utrecht, where she obtained her teaching qualification (1988-1992).

She worked as a primary school teacher for seven years (1992-1999). She then worked for various (non-)profit organisations. In 2013, she completed a training course to become a training actor. She has been working at Leiden University since 2006.
