The role of the coordinator of studies
The coordinator of studies is available for students from the degree programmes Japan Studies and Korean Studies, as well as others who are interested, for any questions on the Japanese and Korean programmes. Prospective students can come to her for information and brochures, or to join lectures and tutorials for a day. The consultation hours are for information on the degree programme, admission requirements, or other matters relating to the programme. Everything you discuss with the coordinator of studies remains confidential. It is the job of the coordinator of studies to help students with study choices after the first and second year, study difficulties, study delay, quitting, and conflicts with teachers. The coordinator of studies helps students to get maximum profit from their studies. She tries to assume a mediating and neutral role between the department and the students. The coordinator of studies should be notified of any absence during lectures and tutorials -preferably in advance, but always as soon as possible- including the reason of the absence.
