Guillermo Guerrero Egido deciphers which genes are involved in bacterial lifestyle and how these genes are acquired and transferred between bacteria.

More information about Guillermo Guerrero Egido

Deciphering which genes are involved in bacterial lifestyle, and how these genes are acquired and transferred between bacteria, are key questions to understand the underlying mechanisms that differentiate the thin line between being beneficial and/or pathogenic. Current bioinformatic methods for comparative genomics are focused on the determination of genes that are share or unique between closely related strains and overlook the genomic signatures that will help microorganisms to adapt and survive to varying lifestyles and environments.
