Esther van de Camp is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. Within the project Gold Matters, she researches transformations to sustainability in Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM). Her field research is in Uganda. Central concepts of the research are sustainability, transformations, mobility, technology, geology, and in-depth geopolitics. Esther graduated with research on resilience of cobalt supply chains (Delft University of Technology) and on ASGM in Ghana (Leiden University).
