My academic career started in 2016 as a student Pharmaceutical Sciences at the VU Amsterdam. During my internship in the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group (VU Amsterdam), I developed a copper-catalyzed imidoylative cross-coupling/cyclocondensation reaction between 2-isocyanobenzoates and amines to efficiently produce quinazolin-4-ones. As I became increasingly interested in the synthesis of drug-like molecules, I started the Master Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I specialized in synthetic organic chemistry and catalysis. My master's thesis in the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group (UvA) was focused on the synthesis of rotaxanes as they possess unique physicochemical and mechanical properties as a result of the mechanical bond. I specifically aimed for synthesis of a mechanically chiral [2]-rotaxane in an enantioselective manner. In 2022 I started in the Pomplun Lab where I will develop a drug discovery platform by utilizing a tag-free decoding strategy for the synthesis of self-encoded libraries (SELs) with drug-like properties. We will design and synthesize SELs up to 10 million members with druglike properties, which can subsequently be used to find new hit compounds against several drug targets.
