David Sander is a PhD candidate at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
David Sander works as a PhD-fellow at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. Under the supervision of Jan Crijns and Pinar Ölçer, he is conducting doctoral research with the working title 'The Right to a Fair Trial in Criminal Cases Against Legal Entities'.
From mid-2015 to mid-2021, David studied Law at Leiden University. He completed his bachelor's degree in mid-2019 and his master's degree in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure in mid-2021 (both with cum laude distinction). During his studies, he was, among other things, an editorial member of Ars Aequi and held board positions in various legal study associations. He also spent a semester studying at the University of Texas at Austin.
David has held his current position since September 2023. Prior to that, he worked as a student assistant, teaching and research assistant, and lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
In addition to his doctoral research, David's responsibilities include teaching criminal law at the bachelor's, master's, and post-academic levels. He is also a member of the Court Watchers, in which capacity he writes summaries of ECtHR judgments for the NJB, and he is a contributor to T&C Strafvordering.
