Charlotte van der Veen is a PhD candidate in the ‘Social Work and the Art of Crafting Resilient Societies’ project.

Charlotte obtained her BA in Literary Studies at VU University. She received her MA in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis focused on the relationality of pain and madness in autobiographical performance. Prior to starting her PhD she worked as a researcher at the University of Amsterdam in a research project studying policies on homelessness and sheltered living in several Dutch municipalities.

Outside academia Charlotte has several years of work experience in the field of social work and advocacy, primarily at a social work organization employing peer workers.
