Charlie Clark studied chemistry and biochemistry at the College of William and Mary, obtaining a BSc degree in 2014. He then obtained his PhD in chemistry at the University of Virginia, graduating in 2019 after completing his thesis titled “Microfluidic applications in forensic science.” As a postdoc in the group of Prof. Thomas Hankemeier, Charlie is researching ways to couple electrodriven microchip separations with mass spectrometry, with the goal of providing new analytical tools for chemical and biomedical research. This work expands upon skills acquired during Charlie’s PhD studies at the University of Virginia, where he developed acoustic and electrodriven separation techniques on novel microfluidic platforms.
