Bruno Jacobs is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Studies at Leiden University. He holds a Master’s degree in Econometrics and Management Science (2012) and a PhD (2017), both from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before joining Leiden University, he was a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland from 2017 to 2026. His research lies at the intersection of quantitative marketing, econometrics, and machine learning. He develops empirical models for large-scale marketing applications that generate data-driven insights with clear managerial relevance. A recurring theme in his work is the use of large-scale individual-level data to model heterogeneity in customer behavior. Practical applicability is central to Bruno’s research. He frequently collaborates with industry partners, ranging from start-ups to large international organizations, to develop and test new methods for complex real-world problems. His research has been published in Marketing Science. Bruno has taught courses at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels. His teaching experience includes Marketing Research Methods, Marketing Analytics, Marketing Principles, Data Science, and a PhD course in Bayesian Data Analysis.
