I started in 2014 with the Chemistry bachelor at the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit. During my bachelor I soon developed an interest in biochemistry and medicinal chemistry. After graduating in 2018 I started with the master Drug Discovery and safety to combine my two main interests. During my master I discovered the interesting field of Biomolecular simulations. Within my master I did my first internship in the Grossmannlab where I developed peptide-oligonucleotides and learned about protein engineering. Following this internship I did an additional internship in biomolecular simulations under the supervision of Dr. Jocelyne Vreede and studied Molecular Dynamics between a protein and DNA system. In 2021 I finished my major internship in molecular and cellular biology within the lab of Prof. Dr. Thijn Brummelkamp at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. After I finished my master I decided to pursue my academic career at the Drug Discovery and Safety division at Leiden University. Under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Pomplun I will design and synthesize synthetic transcription factors and we aim to impart enhanced stability and drug-like properties. These tools will enable us to study pharmaceutically relevant genes.
