More information about Augusto Clemente

Augusto Clemente is a visiting researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS | Leiden University) and a professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR | Brazil). His work focuses on the internationalization of higher education, science policy evaluation, bibliometric analysis and systematic literature reviews, especially in the context of public policies and Latin America. He also coordinates the Laboratory for Scientific Field Analysis (LaCC | UFPR), which aims to generate and transform evidence into solutions for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policies.

His academic background is in Political Science. He completed his PhD in Political Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 2015, using bibliometric analysis to map the literature on citizenship in Brazil since its redemocratization in 1985. This approach contributed to a theoretical analysis of the evolution of this political concept pari passu Brazil’s recent democratic history. Augusto also holds a master’s degree in Political Science and a postgraduate specialization in Political Sociology from UFPR, as well as an undergraduate degree in Political Science. He has been a professor since 2013, teaching subjects related to public policy analysis—mainly in STI and higher education—scientometrics, and political theory.
