Professional experience

Andrea has eleven years of experience at the intersection of design and circular economy, spanning consultancy, applied research, and academia across Latin America and the Caribbean. She has worked with the Organization of American States (OAS), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL/ECLAC), Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano and the Colombian consultancy firm CAIA Ingeniería S.A. She holds a BSc in Product Design Engineering from Universidad EAFIT (Colombia), and a MSc in Industrial Design Engineering from University of Twente, with a thesis on Cradle-to-Cradle decision support model for building design.

Research topic

As a PhD candidate at the CML, Andrea is focusing on applying Industrial Ecology and Circular Design to support circular economy decision-making in Colombia's key economic sectors. Her first paper presents a co-created Circular Design Model developed with companies in Colombia and Peru. Her current research applies Material Stock and Material Flow Analysis to cultural heritage buildings in Bogotá, in collaboration with the Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural de Bogotá (IDPC).
