Ana Parrón Cabañero is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), Leiden University. Ana holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree in Research and Innovation in Higher Education. In her PhD, she explores Open Science policies and practices, with a focus on the Dutch higher education context. She studies how global and national policies and initiatives travel and are translated into different institutional approaches, particularly at Leiden University through its Academia in Motion programme. Next to that, she researches Open Science practices in global research collaborations, with open-source software and hardware playing a central role in the case she studies. She approaches this primarily through the lens of institutional and organisational theories, while also drawing on elements of science and technology studies. Her main research interests include science, technology and innovation policy studies, organisational and cultural change within the scientific landscape, as well as the role of higher education institutions in making science more open and accessible to society.
