Emma graduated from Leiden University's LLM in Constitutional and Administrative law in February 2023 and has since been working at the Europa Institute. Formerly a teaching and research assistant, she is now a PhD candidate with a research focused on the scope, content and 'place' of academic freedom in the European Convention of Human Rights and fundamental freedoms (ECHR). She additionally remains interested in other topics, such as human rights in the digital age, freedom of expression, media freedom, and European and Dutch constitutional law. Besides doing research, she teaches European law in the bachelor's program in Dutch law (introduction to European law in BA1, and European law in BA2) and in the LLM.
