Short abstract
How to develop multi-cycle, multi-scalar and multi-level collaboration that is necessary to drive circular and emission-free housing renovation? CirCol applies Industrial Ecology (IE) analysis with Participatory Action Research (PAR) to deliver insights on how to exploit the enabling conditions, and tackle the system blockers, contradictions and mismatch of values.
Project description
Construction industry primarily works on a project-based mindset where costs are the main definer of value aspects, while moving towards renovation, the mismatch of values across the supply chain has to be considered. Furthermore, emission-free renovation demands to make the mismatched environmental and socio-economic values explicit. In CirCol four renovation cases will be investigated, through prospective Life Cycle Assessment (pLCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), dynamic Material Flow Analysis (dMFA) and PAR to explore how renovation options should be valued to match the needs of supply chain collaboration towards a circular and emission-free housing system in the Netherlands.
