WVP & LEGALITY is an abbreviation for Witnesses and Victims Protection: Perspectives, Legal Realities and Social Justice Initiatives. WVP & LEGALITY is a collaborative project between the Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law, Governance, and Society at Leiden Law School (VVI-LU), Indonesian scholars and activists, and the Indonesian Witnesses and Victims Protection Agency. Together, the participants will write a book (in Indonesian) in which they discuss various socio-legal aspects of victim and witness protection within the Indonesian legal system, paying particular attention to the experiences and viewpoints of victims and witnesses themselves.
The WVP & LEGALITY also examines the efforts of the Government of Indonesia to promote access to justice for witnesses and victims, highlighting the legal realities and empirical barriers faced by witnesses, victims, and their families in seeking justice.
Aims
1. Analysing the problems of access to justice for victims, witnesses, and their families from a socio-legal perspective; and2. Suggesting solutions to improve access to justice.
