How does the religious identity of islamic primary schools in the Netherlands relate to the social demands?

In her PhD research, supervised by Professor Maurits Berger, Marietje analyses the size and significance of Islam in Islamic schools in the Netherlands using qualitative data, focussing on the way the religious identity of the schools is related to social requirements. Within this study, school identity is divided into five dimensions: a religious philosophical dimension, a pedagogical dimension, an educational dimension, an organizational dimension and a social dimension. The identity of Islamic primary schools will furthermore be considered in the broader context of Muslims in the Netherlands. Thereby providing inside into the background from which the schools are founded and the certain need in which the schools provide.
