Synthesis and Characterization of Boron, Nitrogen, and Carbon-Based Two-Dimensional Materials

This thesis comprises the development of reproducible synthesis procedures for two-dimensional materials (composed of boron, nitrogen and carbon) on different metallic surfaces.

The synthesis procedure and physical and chemical properties are characterized using in-house techniques (scanning tunneling microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and synchrotron radiation techniques (photoemission electron microscopy, angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, low-energy electron microscopy, and diffraction).
