This thesis advance our understanding and the application of molecular catalysts relevant to the reduction of oxygen as well as reduction of nitrite.

The studies outline the importance of achieving catalysis of the ORR with high selectivity and offer insights into ligand design strategies, as well as electrochemical cell designs for efficient H2O2 production. Additionally, this thesis provides new insights into the use of molecular copper catalysts in polymerization process and lignocellulosic biomass breakdown, realizing important steps towards their application.
