Christa Tobler speaks at conference on “Europe-friendliness of constitutions”
Andreas Müller of the University of Basel (Switzerland) and Werner Schroeder of the University of Innsbruck (Austria) together organised a “three country conference” (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) on strategies of legal opening towards European law, or “Europe-friendliness”
The venue of the law conference, held on 15 and 16 May 2025, was meant to be Basel but because of the simultaneous taking place of the European Song Contest in Basel, the conference had to be moved to Zurich.
Christa Tobler was part of a panel on the topic of conform interpretation and spoke about the interpretation in Switzerland of the EU-Swiss bilateral agreements in the light of the EU law from which it is derived. She put a particular focus on the EU-Swiss Agreement on the free movement of persons, using the examples of deductions in income taxation and the payment of expenses to posted workers.
