Experience Day: being a Humanities student for a day

What is it like to study at the Humanities Faculty of Leiden University? Soon-to-be students of International Studies and Urban Studies experienced a day at university during the Experience Day in The Hague and found out what their studies are really about.

Justine - International Studies

Justine from France already applied for International Studies but had never been to The Hague. "I come from the Aix-en-Provence in France and I wanted to get to know the study and the city, so that’s why I came by. I'm very interested to study the African region but I'm also looking at studying other regions."

Justine: ‘I'm interested to study the African region’

Regional issues, global context

International Studies is an English-language bachelor programme centered in The Hague that teaches students the ability to view regional issues from a global context, through studying history, culture, politics and economics. As a student, you get the opportunity to also deepen your knowledge on one of eight world regions by studying its politics, culture and language.

Studying urban issues

Starting September, Leiden University will offer the new interdisciplinary bachelor Urban Studies. Urban areas keep on growing and it is expected that in 2050, 66 percent of the world population will live in cities. Studying Urban Studies, students will gain insights into the nature and origin of current and future urban problems in cities and learn more about how to help solve, cities’ health, safety, multicultural and sustainability issues.
