Talented students of the Leiden University on stage
Again the audience is in for a surprise with our new range of classical concerts this academic year by our Practicum Musicae students.
This year the ensemble introduces us to many new faces, including four new jazz singers, a hornist, oboist, clarinettist, harpist and saxophonist.
On Thursday 26 October the first Practicum Musicae concert of this academic year took place in the Lokhorst church. A wonderful program was performed by, among others, Het Sleutelkwartet and pianist Friederike Pank, the prize-winning recorder duo Eline Fung Fen Chung and Jasperina Verheij, PM's own ‘Heldentenor’ Janusz Meylahn and Annemarie Abbing, an Ellie Ameling in the making. Also this year the ensemble introduces us to many new faces, including four new jazz singers, a hornist, oboist, clarinettist, harpist and saxophonist.
In Leiden there are almost 70 talented students who, besides their studies, also follow the talenttrajectory Practicum Musicae (PM) at the Royal Conservatoire. Every last Thursday of the month there is a concert by PM-students in the Lokhorst church in Leiden. The concert starts at 5 PM and lasts an hour. The combination of an academic study in Leiden and an art education in The Hague is an initiative of the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA), a unique collaboration between the University of the Arts The Hague and Leiden University. At the PM program students are taught by the best (inter)national teachers and can thus fully develop their musical talents.
You are more than welcome to visit the Lokhorst church concerts! Admission is free, a voluntary contribution is appreciated.
