Finding a job during the 33rd edition of the Bètabanenmarkt

On 15 March, beta students looked for their match during the Bètabanenmarkt at the new Gorleaus Building. This 33rd edition was the biggest ever, with an impressive 53 companies and 1060 registrations. The CEO of Siemens Ab van der Touw opened the career event.

The Chairman of the Board of Governors of Leiden University received the visitors with a warm welcome in the Gorleaus Building. He marked the beta students as the future, and said to be impressed by the interest for the Bètabanenmarkt: ‘A good sign for the industry.’

Exploring the stands

The students could explore 53 companies. There were big companies such as Capgemini, KPN Consultancy and Nationale Nederlanden, but also government bodies such as the central government and the Ministry of Defence.

Speed dating

In addition to the stands, the Bètabanenmarkt consisted of workshops and speed date sessions, where the visitors could talk one-on-one with the companies. Both activities were held by about ten companies.

Professional LinkedIn shoot

A yearly extra for the visitors was a professional LinkedIn photoshoot. This appeared to be a popular activity, judging from the queue that remained all day.
