IBL Lustrum event: Brexit and the future of the European Union from an IBL-perspective

On Wednesday the 30th of November, International Business Law celebrated its fifth anniversary together with students of the study association SBR (also celebrating their fifth anniversary), lecturers, alumni and staff members. The event mainly revolved around the question of what Brexit will imply for the future of both the European Union and the United Kingdom.

upon the possibilities the UK has regarding entering into alternative agreements with the EU, Daniel Carter, LLM discussed the possible implications of Brexit for the free movement of persons and Professor Alan Neal explained the potential effects of Brexit on transnational labour law. The session was hosted by Yvar Verheugd (IBL student and member of the IBL Lustrum Committee). 

After a coffee break, the second part of event included a short talk by IBL-graduate Gilles Becker about the future (employment) opportunities IBL offers. Subsequently, there was a panel debate in which Daniel Carter, Gilles Becker and two IBL-students, who are both in the IBL Lustrum Committee as well, discussed the current state of the EU and the pros and cons that alternative agreements involve. The event concluded with a celebratory reception.
