Join in the Just Peace Festival

Leiden University is for the first time a partner in the Just Peace Festival that is taking place in The Hague between 21 and 25 September. Visit the festival and take part in the Peace Run or join one of the other activities.

Throughout the world on and around 21 September, the UN Day of Peace, people will be considering how to achieve a more peaceful world. In The Hague, the Just Peace Festival will be contributing to the Day of Peace with lectures, exhibitions, debates, musical activities, sports and music.

The Hague is the international city of peace and justice. These are the themes around which cultural and social organisations are basing the festival programme. Leiden University is closely involved in the organisation. University staff and students are taking part in the Peace Walk, Marieke Liem from the Institute of Security and Global Affairs, will be one of the speakers at the HagueTalks and two scientists will be contributing to the Peace Talks. Students from Leiden University will be taking part in the UNconference The Hague.

There will be musical performances by Di-rect and Set for Peace, and young and upcoming DJs will be playing discs in the Paard van Troje.

The festival is set to grow in the coming years and to spread the message of peace and justice more broadly throughout the world.
