Paul Kozowyk wins 2nd/3rd prize Leiden University Thesis Awards

Leiden University 2016 thesis awards were awarded to Kaspar Pucek (History), Mariska Meijer (Bio Medical Sciences) and Paul Kozowyk (Archaeology).

The prizes are bestowed by the Fonds Minerva Reünisten Jaar 1957/1961/1965 (part of Leids Universiteits Fonds).

All seven faculties of Leiden University selected and submitted their best 2014-2015 MA or MSc thesis. From these nominees the jury of the Leiden University Thesis Awards selected three winners.

Paul Kozowyk obtained his BA in Canada and is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Archaeology (Leiden). His MA thesis Stuck in the middle with glue. Performance testing of Middle Palaeolithic and Middle Stone Age Adhesives won him a shared 2nd and 3rd prize and € 1.500.

 

The jury about Kozowyk’s thesis:

The thesis an original and very successful attempt to connect small problems (adhesives) with large issues (technology and knowledge in prehistory) through experimentation.
