SIBIOL Conference at NUS with Dr. Jane Goodall and Orchid Naming at Singapore Botanic Garden
As part of the ongoing cooperation programme between LEAD at Leiden University and the National University of Singapore since 1999, the Singapore Institute of Biology (SIBiol) had requested the LEAD Programme to participate in the Commemoration of ‘Fifty Years of SIBIOL’ in Singapore in 2004, and as such, Prof. Slikkerveer invited Dr. Jane Goodall to come to Singapore and deliver the Keynote Speech to the Conference.
In an official function at the Botanic Garden of Singapore, an orchid was named after Dr. Jane Goodall, ‘Spathoglottis Jane Goodall’, as an expression of the great appreciation of her continuing support and promotion of the conservation of nature on a global-scale.
