Dutch companies are increasingly rescreening staff to monitor security risks. Assistant Professor Ard Barends commented in the ‘Financieele Dagblad’ about the situation: 'By repeating background checks, companies can keep tabs on risks.'
Screening agencies are reporting an increase in companies rescreening staff. DISA, the largest screening agency in the Netherlands, has seen internal screenings increase nearly tenfold in the past four years. Possible explanations include growing geopolitical tensions and widespread cyber attacks. As a result, information security remains a kay priority for companies.
According to experts, it is not surprising that companies opt for rescreening: after all, screening a person when they join a company is merely a snapshot. 'By repeating these background checks, companies can keep tabs on risks. They can take precautions to prevent reputational damage and any direct damage to the company,’ Ard Barends says.
