War, Peace and Justice
The War, Peace, and Justice (WPJ) research group brings together leading social scientists, researchers, teachers, and both current and former leaders and practitioners to explore cutting-edge issues in war, conflict, peace, and justice.
Our work is informed by diverse political, theoretical, and historical traditions and engages with the most important contemporary academic debates. Our fundamental aim is to understand the vexing puzzle, challenges, and politics of the present moment.
Although war, peace, and justice each have long and rich intellectual traditions, they are too often approached separately in policy and academia, leading to analytical shortcomings and missed opportunities. One cannot understand the acute challenges facing peace studies today without also understanding the new dynamics of war, and vice versa. Our research group is distinctive in focusing on the hard issues the bridge these divides: the dynamics, connections, coherence, and tensions between war, peace, and justice today. We take an integrated approach that allows new insights and solutions to emerge at their intersections.
