Be a student for a day, join a course and decide if the programme is right for you!

Our Student for a Day events allow you to step into the shoes of current MSc Political Science students at Leiden University. You can join seminars and experience the academic environment first-hand, interact with faculty, and connect with current students to hear about their study experiences and life in Leiden. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to explore the programme’s teaching style, ask questions in an informal setting, and get a real sense of what it means to study Political Science at the master’s level.

Who can take part?

Have you visited the website, watched the programme video and visited our Open Days? If yes, then a Student for a Day event is the perfect moment to experience whether this programme suits you. Being a Student for a Day is intended for prospective students who have already attended the (online) Open Days and read about the programme on our website or in a brochure. You should already have a specific interest and a general understanding of the programme. However, we welcome all curious minds who want to experience our programme first-hand!

Programme

You will spend the day with one of our student representatives, who will pick you up in the entrance hall of the Pieter de la Court Campus at 10:30 for an introduction session.

At 10:50, you will attend a course lecture together with current students of the MSc programme. The student representative will guide you to the lecture room where your first class will begin. As a group, you will sit together in the lecture, and you may simply listen and observe, take notes, or even participate and ask questions to the professor if you wish.

At 13:00, after the lecture, the student representatives will meet you outside the lecture room for a lunch break. You may bring your own lunch, but we will also provide one for you. During this break, you can connect with other participants and share your first impressions. Afterwards, the student representatives can give you a tour of the campus, including the library, study areas, seminar rooms, computer rooms, bike garage, cafeteria, café, and more.

At 14:00, the student representatives will guide you to the closing session, where you will have the opportunity to ask all your questions.
