Visit the Open Day in Leiden and The Hague

Do you have interest in studying at Leiden University and want to find out which bachelor's programme is a right fit for you? Join our Bachelor's Open Day in Leiden and The Hague on Saturday 12 October 2024 and follow presentations of the programmes of your interest.
If you are not able to visit us in Leiden or The Hague on 12 October, you can also participate in online presentations for a number of study programmes.

Programme of the On Campus Open Day

During the presentations, you will get a preview of the study programme: what it entails, which subjects you’ll study and much more. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

All of the Open Day locations have an information market. Here you can talk to the teaching staff and to current students. They will answer all of the questions you may have. The study programmes have their own stands and, of course, you can also find information here about studying at Leiden University in general, admission and enrolment, study guidance, the employment market and student life in Leiden and The Hague.

Some of the faculties have theme cafés, covering topics related to studying. Pop in and discover what Leiden University has to offer! Some theme cafés are presented in English and others are in Dutch.

If you’re not familiar with Leiden or The Hague, why not take a City Tour? In this tour you will receive instructions from the guide with the help of a silent disco set. In this unique way you will learn all the ins and outs, the present and the past of the city of Leiden and along the way you will see some of the hotspots that Leiden has to offer including some special tips for students. Our guides will also take you to a local entrepreneur and cultural hotspot to get a unique experience. The City Tours start at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 hours. Starting points are in Leiden at the Kamerlingh Onnes Building and in The Hague at Wijnhaven.

Programme Online Open Day

Can't make it to the Open Day on location? No problem. A number of programmes also broadcast the presentation live. During the live broadcast, you can watch the presentation that is given on campus at that moment. Of course, you can also ask the speakers your questions during the presentation!

After you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email containing the link to the online platform of the Online Open Day. The links to the live broadcasts will only be activated from Saturday 12 October at 9:00. Do not use a mobile phone or tablet to access the platform. For the most optimal user experience, we recommend that you use a desktop computer or laptop and a Google Chrome internet browser. Make sure that you have installed the most up-to-date version of this browser. Make sure that you have a stable connection and that your network is not being used by others.

Watch the programme videos

Frequently Asked Questions

Confirmation ticket

1. I have not received a confirmation ticket, what now?
You'll receive a confirmation e-mail directly after you'll register for the Open Day. Check your spam box to see if the confirmation mail has ended up there. If it is not there, request your confirmation mail again here.

2. Why is there a confirmation ticket?
Due to the great interest in the Open Day, it is important to register in advance so that you are assured of a place at the presentation(s) of your choice.

3. I accidentally deleted my admission ticket, what now?
Request a new confirmation mail here.

4. Do I have to bring my printed ticket with me?
You can also show the proof on your phone.

Bringing a parent/guardian

1. I have indicated that I will not bring a parent/guardian with me, but I want to change this. Is that possible?
You can adjust this via the link in your confirmation mail, provided there is still room in the presentation(s). If a certain presentation is already full, your parent/guardian may not be able to attend this presentation. Your parent/guardian can then wait for you with a cup of coffee or talk to students or advisors on the information market.

2. Can I really only bring one parent/guardian?
Due to the great interest, you can really only bring one parent/guardian to the presentations. However, you can visit the information market with two parents and one parent can wait with a cup of coffee while the other parent accompanies you during the presentation.

Why can't I select certain presentations in the registration form?

You can register for a minimum of one and a maximum of three presentations in the registration form.
The form indicates when you cannot select certain presentations if:

  • you have already chosen the presentation of the same study programme at a different time
  • you have already chosen the presentation of another study programme at that time
  • the travel distance between two successive presentations (and two different locations) is too far to make it to the next presentation in time

Presentations are full, adjust your program or cancel your registration

1. All presentations I would like to visit are full. Does it still make sense to come to the Open Day?
You are most welcome at the information markets and theme cafes at the various faculties. Students, lecturers and/or study advisors are present here to talk to and answer your questions about the programme(s) and studying at Leiden University. You can also collect all kinds of information material here. And without registration you can also participate in a swinging city walk through Leiden and/or The Hague.

2. I want to change my programme or cancel my registration to the Open Day, how do I do this?
You can change your programme or unsubscribe via the link in your confirmation mail.
Please note: if you adjust your programme you will also receive a new confirmation mail.

Find your way to the Open Day

Sustainability is important to Leiden University. Therefore, we advise you to come to Leiden or The Hague by public transport. Parking usually is very expensive. You can also rent an OV bike at the train station! This is a fun way to get to know the city. In Leiden you can also hop on a shuttle bus which will run throughout the Open Day with drop-off points close to all of the faculties.

In Leiden:
The Leiden city center is almost entirely licensed parking. It is best (and cheaper) to park your car in a parking garage. Park in the Garenmarkt parking garage and walk to the Open Day locations in the city center within five to ten minutes. More information about Garenmarkt parking garage (location, rates and route) can be found here (information only in Dutch).

Are you visiting the Open Day locations at the Bio Science Park? Then park in the parking garage Ehrenfestweg, easily accessible from the A44 via Plesmanlaan. There are no parking spaces on the public road. More information about Parking Garage Ehrenfestweg (location, rates and route) can be found here.

Holders of a disabled people parking permit can park on public disabled people parking places.  You can also apply for a free disabled person parking permit in Leiden. With this permit you can  - when the new rules for street parking apply – also park on permit holders parking places in the city centre.

In The Hague:
The center of The Hague is easily accessible by public transport. The university locations of the Open Day are within a 5-minute walk of the Central Station in The Hague. Are you coming by car? The Hague has several parking garages and parking lots spread across the city.

Online platform

How do I access the Bachelor's Online Open Day platform?
You’ll receive a confirmation mail immediately after registration. In this mail you will see the  sessions that you have chosen and a link to the online platform. Only from Saturday from the start time of the event the links to the presentations on the platform will be activated. So you can visit the platform of the Bachelor Online Open Day earlier, but the live sessions will only start on the day itself.

What device can I best use to visit the platform?
We advise against using a mobile phone or tablet to access the platform. For the best user experience use a PC or laptop with Google Chrome as browser. Make sure you have the latest version of Chrome and that you have a stable network connection that isn’t being used by others.

What should I do if I can’t see the presentations on the platform?
First check that your computer has a stable connection. If you still can’t see any presentations, refresh the page or reopen the link from your confirmation mail.
Visitors from certain countries may find that the streaming tool that we are using for the presentations is blocked by their government. In that case, they won’t be able to see the presentations.

Can I watch a presentation that I haven’t registered for?
Yes! On the platform you will see all the presentations that are currently being given. You can watch these presentations without having to register first.

Can I watch presentations later?
No, the presentations are not recorded and can therefore only be viewed during the Open Day on Saturday, October 12.
