How can higher education create learning environments in which an increasingly diverse student population can thrive?
Across higher education, institutions are seeing a growing number of students with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence. While accommodations such as extended exam time have become common practice, creating inclusive and future-proof education requires institutions to look beyond accommodations alone. This raises important questions for educational policy and practice:
- Which support strategies are supported by evidence?
- How can learning environments and educational design become more inclusive?
- When are individual accommodations sufficient, and when is broader systemic change needed?
- How can emerging technologies, such as AI, contribute to student success and academic equity?
This symposium brings together internationally leading experts in ADHD, educational psychology and higher education, alongside educational professionals, to explore these questions from developmental, clinical and educational perspectives. Together, we will discuss how research can inform institutional policy, educational design and student support across higher education.
