This work investigates the role of visuality in the education and identity formation of deaf people. From a historical and semiotic perspective, the research analyzes how visual experiences shape the learning and social interaction of deaf individuals, especially after the recognition of Libras (Brazilian Sign Language). The thesis proposes a review of pedagogical practices and the role of professionals in the field (teachers and interpreters), advocating for the consolidation of a visual pedagogy. Finally, it suggests a transition from the technical concept of "classifiers" to that of image description, aiming for a broader understanding of visual representation in sign language.
