Adjusted start schedule due to warm weather forecast
Due to the warm weather forecast for Saturday, June 21, the start time of the Leiden Science Run has been moved forward to 10:00 AM (instead of 12:00 PM). This way, you can begin your run during the cooler morning hours and enjoy it to the fullest!
Note: Instead of the original relay format, team members will now start individually at 10-minute intervals.
Make sure you’re well prepared: we recommend moisture-wicking and breathable sportswear. Don’t forget essential sun protection, such as a cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Also, be sure to arrive well-hydrated and continue drinking enough fluids throughout the run. There will be plenty of water and sports drink stations along the route for everyone.
Are you ready for a fun challenge full of energy, teamwork and good vibes? On Saturday 21 June 2025, the Leiden Science Run is back! To celebrate 450 years of Leiden University, we’ll be running a relay through the vibrant Leiden Bio Science Park – 4.5 km per runner. And you can be part of it!

Whether you're a regular runner or just in it for a fun day with colleagues or friends, the Leiden Science Run is for everyone. Form a team of four, lace up your running shoes and raise funds for the LUF Children's Fund. It’s the perfect mix of sport, teamwork and doing something meaningful!
Run through the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park
You’ll run right through the innovation hub that is the Leiden Bio Science Park, with the final stretch ending at the lively Rosalind Franklin Square. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the park in a whole new way – alongside students, staff, researchers, alumni and many more.
Running for the LUF Children's Fund
As we celebrate this special anniversary, we’re not just looking back – we’re focusing on the future. The Leiden Science Run supports the LUF Children’s Fund, which helps vulnerable young people facing mental health issues, serious illness or unsafe home environments. By taking part, you’ll help give them a brighter future.

- Have your team captain register your team (€25 per team)
- Sign up your three teammates for free
- Upload a fun, energetic team photo
- Share your fundraising page with friends, family and colleagues – and raise as much as you can for the LUF Children’s Fund!
