Last year, we were honoured to have Professor Tom Tyler as a keynote speaker. For this year's kick-off event, Professor Lee Epstein is coming to Rotterdam in person. Not only will she give the keynote speech, but she will also give a workshop on the second day of the event.
Lee Epstein is Professor of Law & Political Science at the University of Southern California. Professor Epstein is expert in empirical legal studies, with a focus on law and courts, and has received numerous awards and published in the most prestigious international journals such as American Journal of Political Science; Journal of Law, Economics, & Organization; Journal of Legal Analysis; and top publishing houses such as Oxford University Press. Her work is highly cited and impactful. For example, she serves as Principal Investigator of the U.S. Supreme Court Database, which is used by many scholars. Besides her scientific contribution, she is a talented lecturer, who teaches a great deal of law and ELS courses, and even received awards for it.
Other parts of the program include presentation sessions by early career scholars, feedback from senior researchers, hands-on practice sessions, a group work on research design where one group would get a chance to win a research grant!
