This Friday we will be hosting Omar Muhammad, PhD research scholar in Paris, and the creator of the Mosul Eye Blog, perhaps the most popular daily news item during the ISIS occupation of Iraq. As someone who lived in Mosul during the ISIS occupation of the city, Omar used the blog to report anonymously on the atrocities of ISIS, to document their destructive way of life, and to keep records of their political machinery in action. Omar will share many fascinating anecdotes and lived experiences of life under ISIS, including the time when ISIS became suspicious of his activities and came close to executing him.

As one of the world’s leading specialist in Islamist ideology and extremism theologies, Omar will also take the opportunity to speak about radicalisation, religious fanaticism, and political violence in Europe and elsewhere.

Omar is a hugely popular speaker and public lecturer, having appeared on numerous tv documentaries, including the BBC. He is currently in The Netherlands as a guest of the Dutch Ministry of Justice.

Please feel free to join us for what promises to be a lively discussion.
