The master's specialisation in Sociology of Policy in Practice aims to address challenges faced by NGO's, government bodies, and commercial companies in relation to culture and diversity in today's globalised world. Particular emphasis is placed on complex processes of diversity, sustainability and digitalisation. This specialisation enables you to gain relevant working experience by conducting a 3 month research internship.

Why did you choose Sociology of Policy in Practice at Leiden University?
"My decision to study Cultural Anthropology derived from a fascination for all social and cultural aspects that influence human behaviour, beliefs, and interaction. Through the bachelor’s programme, I gained a broader perspective on the diverse experiences, viewpoints, and backgrounds that influence this, and seeking to apply this knowledge practically, I discovered the Policy in Practice specialisation. A research internship at the Leiden University Medical Centre was the perfect opportunity to apply my interest in Medical Anthropology in a professional context, using my acquired ethnographic research skills to address the research objective presented by my internship providers. This master’s specialisation, therefore, not only teaches you how to conduct research, but it also provides you with the skills to collaborate with professional organizations and approach social and cultural dilemmas through an anthropological perspective!"
