Leiden University in The Hague – Researchers of the City

The photo exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the research being carried out at Leiden University in The Hague. It features eight researchers connected by one common thread: their research has a real impact on the city and the people of The Hague.

The photo exhibition Leiden University in The Hague – Researchers of the City with photo’s from Wilke Geurds was previously on view at the Atrium of The Hague City Hall and our location Wijnhaven.

The photos not only show the places and the people behind the research, but through this website, each image also offers additional background information. This allows you to discover what the research is about, why it matters, and what makes The Hague so special according to the researchers.

About Leiden University – Campus The Hague

In 2025, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: Leiden University turns 450! And for the past 25 years, we’ve been making a difference in The Hague. Leiden University’s Campus The Hague is rooted in society and focuses on urgent themes such as peace, justice, public administration and major urban challenges including sustainability and health. All of this is done with and for the city’s residents.

In January 2026, the doors will open to the new Spui Campus, where Leiden University will be joined by TU Delft, the Open University, the LUMC and the Universities of the Netherlands. It will be a place for teaching, research, knowledge sharing and connection.
