Unaesah Rahmah is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) and part of the Terrorism and Political Violence research group. She holds a master’s degree in strategic studies and a bachelor's degree in international relations. Before pursuing her PhD, Unaesah served as an analyst at the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research, RSIS, NTU, Singapore. In this role, she conducted research on the terrorism landscape in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, focusing on threat assessment, terrorist networks, and online extremist narratives. During her tenure at ICPVTR, she contributed to key projects such as the Southeast Asia Militant Atlas, Terrorism Financing in Southeast Asia, and a large dataset focusing on lone wolf and copycat cases. Her written contributions can be found in various publications, including The Diplomat, RSIS Commentary, and Counter Terrorist Trends and Analysis. Additionally, she has shared her expertise through briefings with officials from multiple countries, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, the UK, and Australia, as well as with private corporations on terrorism threats in Indonesia. Beyond academic institutions, Unaesah also collaborated with various Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations in Indonesia, primarily researching the role of women in the context of terrorism.
