Meniere's disease

Meniere disease is a disabling disorder of the inner ear characterized by spontaneous attacks of vertigo, hearing loss and tinnitus. In the Netherlands there are approximately between 8000 and 15000 patients with Meniere’s disease. The cause of Meniere’s disease is unknown, but scientists believe it is caused by the mixing of fluids in the canals of the inner ear. The academic chair is focused on research into the cause, diagnosis and therapy of Meniere’s disease (which is in line with the research questions in the Dutch ENT Research agenda 2018), but also on education in the field of vestibulology and innovation of care for the dizzy patient.
