Tineke Cleiren is Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. After her professorship at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (1991-2000) she became Director General Legislation, Administration of Justice, Law Enforcement and Legal Assistance (Directeur Generaal Wetgeving, Rechtspleging, Rechtshandhaving en Rechtsbijstand) at the Ministery of Justice (1997-2000).
In 2000 she was appointed to the position of Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure in Leiden. She is also Substitute Justice at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam. Besides this she is part of various steering comittees and commissions.
