Simona Cicognani is Assistant Professor at the department of Economics of Leiden University.  

She obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the School of Social Sciences of the University of Trento in 2015. She was a visiting student at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2005), and a visiting scholar at GATE-LSE in Lyon (2014-2015) and CREED in Amsterdam (2018).  
Her main research interests are behavioral and experimental economics, applied to the study of cooperation in repeated social dilemmas, trust, social capital, charitable giving and online ratings. Her most recent line of research focuses on dishonesty and policy implications to curb it.
