Sander Nieuwenhuis is professor of Cognitive Neuroscience of Decision Making in the Cognitive Psychology department of the Institute of Psychology.
Summary
Sander Nieuwenhuis studied cognitive psychology in Groningen. He obtained his PhD in 2001 at the University of Amsterdam where he started his research line on the role of the prefrontal cortex in cognitive control. He was visiting research fellow at Cambridge University and postdoc at Princeton University and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam before he joined Leiden University as assistant professsor in 2006. At Princeton University, he started his second research line on the role of the noradrenergic system in human cognition. As of 2012 Nieuwenhuis has been full professor at Leiden University.
