Maarten started as a Research Assistant at CML in September 2021.
Professional experience
Maarten graduated from the Governance of Sustainability MSc, a program offered by CML and the Leiden University Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs. He wrote his thesis on the policy landscape for innovations and circularity in solar PV in the European Union. Currently he is working on Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) for renewable energy technologies, with a special focus on batteries for energy storage.
Research topic
Maarten is involved in the BALIHT project, with the goal of developing an organic Redox Flow Battery that can be used in higher temperatures without cooling. For this project he is conducting a policy analysis and also working on Social Life Cycle Assessment to illustrate the potential social impact risks related to the battery.
