Biography

Kristin Makszin is an Assistant Professor of Political Economy. She completed her PhD in Political Science at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Her research relates to the field of political economy and public policy in Europe, with a focus on social and monetary policy. The core of her research delves into the complex interaction of policy relevant actors – public and private, international and domestic, political and bureaucratic – to understand how they shape policy outcomes. She applies both quantitative and qualitative methods, especially how to use quantitative methods in social science for researching topics with limited available data or limited number of cases. Prior to joining LUC, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and taught at Central European University and McDaniel College Budapest.
